Kasey Kahne’s no. 9 Dodge made the move on Kevin Harvick late at Atlanta in the Pep Boys 500 to take the checkered flag. And more importantly, Kahne moved up to the sixth spot in the Race for the Chase, all but assuring him a spot in the twelve-man field.

Sam Hornish Jr. earned a transfer spot into the Sprint All-Star race by deciding to remain on the track and not going into the pits during a break between two 20 laps segments. It proved to be a savvy move as he came out of the break as the leader and never relinquished it.
